Hollywood Made Them Stars… Then Left Them Homeless

Hollywood sells the dream: fame equals safety, money, and a happy ending.
But reality has proven—again and again—that celebrity can disappear overnight. And for some stars, the fall wasn’t just emotional or financial. It ended on the streets.

These are not rumors. These are documented cases of famous people who went from red carpets to homelessness.

Margot Kidder — Superman’s Lois Lane Who Lost Her Home

Margot Kidder was one of the most recognizable faces of the late 1970s after playing Lois Lane in “Superman” opposite Christopher Reeve.

But behind the scenes, she struggled for decades with bipolar disorder, something she later spoke about openly.

In 1996, during a severe manic episode, Kidder disappeared for several days. When police found her, she was living on the streets of Los Angeles, paranoid, disoriented, and without stable housing.

She later explained that mental illness—not drugs, not “bad choices”—was the reason her life unraveled.

Kidder eventually stabilized and returned to acting, but her homelessness was real, public, and deeply painful.
